Voxel Weight Transferfor Blender

Dress the rig. The outfit follows the body.

A Blender add-on that copies the body's skin weights and shape keys onto every garment, through voxels: smoother, more even weights.

For VRChat avatars, Roblox characters, GTA V and Skyrim outfit mods, and your own characters.

01 Sources

The sources become a volume.

The body and the clothes it already wears are the Sources. They fill with voxels carrying their weights.

02 Target

A target takes its weights.

The skirt is the first Target. The voxels carry the weights from the sources into the fabric. The leg bones are left out, so the skirt hangs from the hips instead of following one thigh.

03 Layers

Layer by layer.

One transfer per garment. Each dressed garment joins the Sources and feeds the next layer, innermost first. The crown and the metal plates go on Rigid, one bone each. Fourteen garments, no vertex left without weights.

04 Shape keys

Shape keys come along.

The body's shape keys go through the same voxels, so the outfit takes the new shape instead of the skin pushing through.

05 Animate

Ready to animate.

The same weights under the clip you saw first.

What you get

Questions

Does the body need to be skinned first?

Yes. To skin a body from scratch, use Adaptive Auto Skinning.

Which Blender versions does it support?

Blender 4.2 LTS through 5.2, on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Do the shape keys keep their names?

Yes. Each garment gets the body's keys under the same names, at the body's values.

Does it change the sources?

No. The Sources are only read.

Does it work for VRChat, Roblox or game mods?

Yes. The outfit gets ordinary vertex groups and an Armature modifier, so it exports like any Blender character: FBX or VRM for Unity and VRChat, Roblox's rig, the GTA V and Skyrim modding tools. The garments keep the body's bone influence count, so a body limited to four bones gives an outfit at four.
